Before becoming an NFL Hall of Famer, Bart Starr was a three-position athlete for the Alabama football team. Starr played for the Crimson Tide from 1952-56 where he not only played quarterback, but played safety and was also responsible for punting. As a freshman, Starr completed 8 out of 12 passes for 93 yards in a dominating 61-6 victory over Syracuse in the Orange Bowl. In the following year, Starr threw eight touchdown passes and helped lead the Tide to a Cotton Bowl appearance with his arm and a little legwork. In the summer of 1956, the Green Bay Packers selected the 'Bama QB with their 199th selection, but it wasn't until 1959 when first-year coach Vince Lombardi named Starr the starting QB. The rest is history. Under Starr’s leadership, the Packers were a championship team, winning five championships — including the first two Super Bowls. He was the 1966 NFL MVP, won two Super Bowl MVPs and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1977. Bart Starr has hand-signed this Riddell authentic full-size Proline helmet which comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity from Palm Beach Autographs and a photographic print of Starr during the actual signing.
