Matthew “Matt the Bat” Williams played for the San Francisco Giants from 1987 to 1996. Known for his ability to consistently slug balls over the fence, Williams hit over 30 home runs in six separate seasons for the Giants. His most productive season with the Giants came in 1994 when Williams hit a National League-best 43 home runs, despite the season being cut short by a strike. Though Williams was a prolific batter, his fielding abilities weren’t anything to scoff at. As a Giant, he won the Gold Glove award three times (four overall). During his entire career, Williams hit a .268 batting average, 378 home runs and 1,218 RBIs. In addition to this, he was selected to the All-Star game a total of five times.
